ABS self-diagnosis
completed

The ABS warning light goes
out.

If an ABS fault is indicated after
the ABS self-diagnosis is com-
pleted:

Continue driving is possible. It
must be noted that neither the
ABS nor the integral function is
available.
Have the malfunction corrected
as soon as possible by a spe-
cialized workshop, preferably
an authorized BMW Motorrad
retailer.

ASC self-diagnosis

with automatic Stability Con-
trol

OE

The readiness for operation
of the BMW Motorrad ASC is
checked by the self-diagnosis.
Self-diagnosis is performed
automatically when you switch

on the ignition. So that the ASC
self-diagnosis can be completed,
the engine must be running and
the motorcycle must drive at a
speed of at least 3 mph (5 km/h).

Phase 1

Checking the diagnosable
system components while
stopped.

ASC symbol flashes.

Phase 2

Checking diagnosable system
components while driving.

ASC symbol flashes.

ASC self-diagnosis
completed

The ASC symbol is no longer
displayed.

If an ASC fault is indicated after
ASC self-diagnosis is completed:

Continue driving is possible. It
must be noted that the ASC
function is not available.
Have the malfunction corrected
as soon as possible by a spe-
cialized workshop, preferably
an authorized BMW Motorrad
retailer.

Running in

The first 600 miles
(1,000 km)

While running in the motorcy-
cle, vary the throttle opening
and engine-speed range fre-
quently.
Try to do most of your rid-
ing during this initial period on
twisting, fairly hilly roads, avoid-
ing high-speed main roads and
highways if possible.
